Rooted in Research: Vegetable and Potato Roundtable at Hancock Research Station
On March 6, 2024, Farmers of the Roche-A-Cri hosted a Vegetable & Potato Roundtable Discussion at the Hancock Research Station, bringing together 17 participants including UW–Madison CALS researchers, farmers, UW-Extension educators, and agronomists. The goal: to align research priorities and explore collaborative opportunities in vegetable and potato production.
The discussion sparked valuable insights and helped shape our 2024 in-field research project at Coloma Farms. Participants expressed strong interest in continuing these conversations, recognizing the importance of collaboration in advancing conservation practices. With support from skilled researchers, we’re better equipped to understand the “why” and “how” behind the practices we promote—paving the way for more sustainable, water-conscious farming in the Central Sands.
